Product Description

Please Note: Zooloretto has been named the winner of the prestigious 2007 Spiel des Jahres. Also, visit the product page link below to download free expansions.

Each player uses small, large, wild and exotic animals and their young to try and attract as many visitors as possible to their zoo. But be careful -- the zoo must be carefully planned. Before you know it, you have too many animals and no more room for them. That brings minus points! Luckily, your zoo can expand. A zoo of a family game in which less is sometimes more...

The heart of this game is based on the mechanisms in Michael Schacht's earlier game, Coloretto.

  1. Simple yet so fun with great re-playability

Posted by Brett, South Jordan on 6th Jan 2011

It was by pure chance I stumbled upon this game and I'm so glad I did. This game is not overly complicated, each player is trying to create the most profitable zoo. In order to do so, they must try to fill their available cages with animals; however, everyone is competing for the same animals and they are limited. You want to fill your cages but you don't want to exceed the "cage limit" or the animal will cost you points. You can focus on improving your own zoo, you can try to sabotage your opponents' zoos by forcing them to take undesirable or an excess of animals, or you can do both. I have numerous games and this is always one I introduce first to new/novice gamers. I have played it many times and I have never got bored of it.

  2. Great Family Game

Posted by Aaron B on 29th Sep 2009

I am writing this review with only a few plays of this game and will likely increase my rating once I have played it a few more times. I was looking for a game that the family could play from 8 yrs old to 38. This definitely hit the mark!
I found some wild animal and jungle sounds to play in the background and everyone had fun building a zoo.
What I like about this game is the kids are on equal footing with the adults, and there is a good balance of luck and strategy for our family.
    Great game!
